She will love and be attracted to whoever can help her along the way in where she is in her life. I think ultimately, Svetlana is a survivalist. But, then again, to call her straight would be unfair. Obviously, this is Shameless- and nothing really lasts forever, and I still don't know much because the season's not over yet, but so far, so good! As far as Svetlana's sexual orientation, I love that question as well- because to call Svetlana a lesbian would be unfair, and yet, to call her bisexual would also be unfair. Which is pretty cool, because it's really like any other relationship or marriage that deals with the daily grind of life.

They all have a very symphonic harmony going on. The season opens and we're all in this beautiful and choreographed dance one person will be getting coffee while the other person is reading the paper, and the third person might be changing a diaper. The main reason why I love this storyline is that it's not really in your face- it's very organic and natural. We're not trying to overdue the polyamory factor for shock value. Oh, this is a really good question! So, as you see when the season opens, this is very much a real and grounded marriage. Svetlana is an eye opening experience to the struggles that many women go through due to immigration and having to do whatever one has to in order to survive- and Goresther is playing her perfectly. While Svetlana is not only hilarious, she is also unique- but also very grounded in the most brutal form of reality that most people are sheltered from. Audiences remain so intrigued by her because they simply have a hard time wrapping their head around the way she acts- it’s outlandish, unfamiliar and brash, yet never cartoonish. Showcasing a strong evolution of a character that really comes from an incredibly troubled past, only to keep fighting her way through, the actress gives a tremendous performance as this woman who lives life with a survivalist mentality.

No longer just a plot device to come between other characters and stir up trouble, or a side character to throw out witty one-liners (although, her one-liners are great), Goresther has turned her severe and intense woman to be reckoned with into one of the most fascinating stand-alone characters to ever be on the show. And that is mainly because Goresther has managed to make Svetlana so darn interesting.
